The goal of the PALS course is to aid the pediatric healthcare provider in developing the knowledge and skills necessary to efficiently and effectively manage critically ill infants and children, resulting in improved outcomes. Skills taught include recognition and treatment of infants and children at risk for cardiopulmonary arrest; the systematic approach to pediatric assessment; effective respiratory management; defibrillation and synchronized cardioversion; intraosseous access and fluid bolus administration; and effective resuscitation team dynamics.
For pediatricians, emergency physicians, family physicians, physician assistants, nurses, nurse practitioners, paramedics, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare providers who initiate and direct advanced life support in pediatric emergencies.
All courses are scheduled as required by AHA’s regulations.
Please note this class is taught with the understanding the student is proficient in the interpretation of EKG strips and the correct associated treatment. Interpretation is not taught during this course; it is taught during the EKG course. The pretest has to be passed with a minimum of 70% prior to class.
If you need more resources to learn the EKG strip and interpretations we recommend using www.practicalclinicalskills.com/ecg-tutorial and www.skillstat.com
You are required to have the current textbook for this course. If you already own one or have access to one before, during, and after the class, you do not need to purchase one here.
